University Life
Time spent at a university is a most worthwhile period in a young person's life. This is a time when a student begins to form his or her ideas about life in general. Attending classes and studying in the library keep a student busy and provide him or her with access to valuable information, adding to his or her knowledge base.
Campus life can also be rich and colorful. Most universities offer a variety of extracurricular activities such as sports events, contests, and other social gatherings, enabling the students to experience relief fi'om study and homework. Students often form lifelong friendships through the varied experiences of university life.
During the time a student spends at university, he not only develops his intellectual ahilites,he also develops social skills as well as knowledge and wisdom necessary for choosing a future career. When it comes to my college life, I think of two words. One is colorful, the other peaceful. They are used to describe my college life in different periods.
I still remember the first day I set foot in this college. Buildings were surrounded by many trees. Fashionable dressings were here and there.What I saw was really fresh. My college life began with fresh. Gradually, it turned to be colorful. During the first year in my college, I was the leader of Communist Youth League in my class. I attended meetings, made announcements and organized class activities. I learnt to shoulder my responsibility and unit my classmates. Besides, I was a member of Youth Volunteer Association. In my space time, I went to an old people’s home to visit the senior citizens. I organized a donation to help the poor children. I planted trees in Mount Qingxiu. I got no physical reward from these work, but I did make a contribution to help those who are in desperate need of care. Apart from this, I joined New Voice, an English association in School of Foreign Language, which provided a platform for English learners to make a speech, debate, free talking and so on. I benefited a lot from the activities. For one thing, I improved my spoken English; for another, I learnt to show myself in public. Thanks to these activities, not only did I develop my interest, but also I lived a colorful college life.
As time goes by, now I am a sophomore. I am still a class leader, a member of different associations. But it is quite different to me. I realize that all the activities are only a small part of my life. For a college student, study is the main task. This term I go all out to pass the TEM-4 and National Computer Text. In addition, I should spare no effort to master all the skills in English learning. Only in this way, can I lay a firm foundation and pave the road to my future. In fact, it is not easy for me to settle down on my study at first. I have to sit down in a classroom and read my textbooks for hours on end. Sometimes it is boring and tough. Whenever I want to give up, a voice from my heart says“Study is no longer an easy job. It needs patience, perseverance and perspiration”. Little by little, I find that sitting in a library, looking up a dictionary and pondering a couple of questions is another kink of joy. Though it is not colorful, I enjoy the peaceful life.
No matter what my college life is, one thing is certain: I should try my best to make it a meaningful college life. Still, I have a long way to go.
What's the differences between studying English in the Senior high school and university? That's a good question. Firstly,in the Senior high school,English teachers teach us grammas which is the most important.However in the university,they will teach us some more intersting things.
Secondly,when we were in senior high school we have to do a lot of paper work or exams while in the university,the most important thing for us to learn is the English culture and spoken English.
Finally,in the university we study English from our hobbies and our self-driven.
But how can we study English efficiently? Study more vocabularies,and recite more good english essaies,also dont be shy to speak english.more practise,better english.
